When did Ford decide to use TDDi vs TDCi because in the Transit this happened for 2006.

TDDi is used for simple direct injection diesel engines and TDCi for common rail versions. In the Focus Mk1 range the two versions were sold together from the launch of the common rail version of the Lynx engine in 2001 until the launch of the Mk2, due to high demand for diesel versions. The transition from TDDi to TDCi engines took place at different times depending on the model:

- for the Fiesta, with the introduction of the Mk5 for MY 2002 (the Mk4 with the 1.8 TDDi engine was sold alongside the Mk5 until the end of 2002)
- for the Mondeo, it happened with the 2005 facelift: the TDCi models were introduced on the Mk3 for MY 2002 and then they gradually replaced the TDDi units
- the Galaxy Mk1 never used the TDDi badge as it used VW-sourced engines which retained the TDI designation, the Mk2 switched directly to Ford's new TDCi units co-developed with PSA, in addition to an entry-level version equipped with the older Lynx 1.8 TDCi
- the Transit/Tourneo Connect Mk1 was launched with both the TDDi and the TDCi Lynx engines, with the older ones being phased out with the 2007 facelift

Thanks. I spent close to an hour researching with dismal results.
