No, I have never heard of Lightening McQueen, whoever that is. It appears to be suffering from a well known Morris Minor front suspension malady, Non-maintainitis. From “Pistonheads” greasy fingers and technical wheezes website: - Pigeon 18,535 posts 246 months [report][news]Sunday 22nd August 2004quotequote all The trunnions, classic lack-of-maintenance failure. There are three grease nipples on the front suspension which need a squirt every 3000 miles, which isn't hard but people can't be bothered. The kingpin screws into the trunnion on a big thread, and the thread is also the pivot for the kingpin (which is not as shite a piece of design as it sounds). Without regular greasing, the thread wears until the kingpin pops out. It's usually the bottom trunnion that goes, as the weight of the car is trying to pull the kingpin out of the bottom trunnion and push it further into the top one. -- Last edit: 2024-04-28 20:16:43 |
