Strange... a C registration in a yellow plate. I am not an expert but I was persuaded yellow plates arrived in the very late 60s in UK. |

Maybe the owner didn't like the original black plates and replaced them. White and yellow plates were introduced in 1968 but only became standard in 1973. Here's an older Beetle with a yellow plate. |

Could be a G plate (68-69) so one of the first reflectives?? I can't read it to pursue. If it's a metallic, the later date might fit better - I assume there's noting on the car itself to date between them?? |

There was nothing to stop you fitting reflective plates to an older car, if you wanted to. If I remember correctly, vehicles registered for the first time after 1967/8 had to be fitted with reflective plates, but there was not any compulsion to fit them to pre existing cars.
