The only close shot is about this car : [Image: lautreaile_c05718.jpg]

Not sure .. pas sûr que ce soit le bouchon de radiateur d'une Sunbeam :/

N'y a-t-il pas moyen de se baser sur les numéros de plaque (bien visibles pour deux des voitures) ?

My picture books of early 1920s things show various Sunbeams, but nothing quite like this radiator shape and none with wheels like this; can't comment on whether it's a Sunbeam grille badge. But they're only picture books, not proper guides so all I can say is no match found, and if other folk say Sunbeam, so be it.

I shall not be included in "other folks" imo Sunbeam it isn't.

I think the two similar looking cars are possibly same make, different models. This would seem a French car made 1920-25, follow-on make to Pilain. The SLIM type AP Tourer was made to 1923 in a 12HP and a 15HP model, but similar larger models were made 1924'5 in three sizes before closure. This one would probably be a 15HP.

the number plate appears to be a photo montage if you run the image through google image or photoshop

The blazon-shaped grille badge, the circular windshield, the shape of the radiator and the brake discs could all be clues to the identity of this car. I thought of an Alvis, but nothing fits. In the French cars, there were so many that it's hard to say: I looked at Salmson badges; Rolland-Pilain; Rochet-Schneider...it doesn't fit.

I'm sorry but what do you means by "SLIM" : thin ? smaller ? Is it a brand ?

Vintman means SLIM car brand. I have never heard of it before and very little information is available about it. It was a continuation of Pilain brand (not to be confused with Rolland-Pilain) and made between 1920 and 1929.

There is at least one survivor. This is type AP from 1923. The radiator is indeed very similar.

thank you I understand better: S.L.I.M. are the letters of "Société Lyonnaise de l'Industrie Mécanique". we could translate by "Lyon's Cie of Mechanical Industry". That's why I couldn't find anything :)

Here's what the encyclopedia has to say https://www.guide-automobiles-anciennes.com/VOITURE/pilain-sap.htm

"Post-war recovery proved difficult, and the Board of Directors preferred to file for bankruptcy in 1918. But in 1919, the engineer Adenot took over the business under the brand name SLIM (Société Lyonnaise d'Industrie Mécanique) in Caluire near Lyon. The company produced a number of old Pilain 4O, 4S and 4U models, then new models, the AP under the SLIM-Pilain brand, then the others under the simple SLIM brand. Despite some technological advances and genuine quality, the overpriced models failed to sell, and SLIM closed in 1925."

very rare ! :king:

Great job guys !

Fred, why did you say "the number plate appears to be a photo montage" ?

Could it be the result of movie restoration ?
