Does "EMERGENCY AMBULANCE" mean there are also Non-Emergency Ambulances?? If so, why??

johnfromstaffs wrote Yes, after my latest (during the running down of the Covid panic) skirmish with A and E, I was told at about 4am that I could go home. Twenty miles away. While I was waiting for the letter for my doctor, I reviewed my options to get home. Too early for a taxi as it would be fearfully expensive at night time rates. No buses until about 8am, so find a chair somewhere, too early to call my daughter, what to do? (rfs doesn’t drive these days.) The letter arrived, followed shortly by an ambulance driver saying “as you tested Covid +ve, you get a ride home with us”. At least one good thing attributable to Covid! The ambulance was exactly as Ayrshore described, more or less a taxi.


Baube wrote a few funny things are attribuable to Covid (like Montréal, an Eastern Conference team winning the Clarence Campbell Trophy, normally awarded to the Western Conference's champion but that's another story.. ). My mom also had a "taxi ride" in an ambulance but ours don't have any outside difference, just that it was requested by her doctor and she had to wait a little bit to have a free one equipped with a special chair that can climb up/down stairs (not available in all of them, at least yet.. hopefully they all get them one day ..
