I think he will be ok, I don't think any Cougars were harmed in this scene. The car exploding looks more like a 1973-1974 fullsize Ford

It's funny, whenever I see an early 70s FoMoCo product exploding at night I always think of the poor T-Bird from the Crow <- oddly no thumbs there depicting that scene.
IMO one the most impactful exploding-car-scenes in film history, up there with the exploding Alfa Romeo from the Godfather.

For me, my three impactful exploding-car-scenes are the Acura MDX in the "Monk" TV show and the two Autocar A64's: One in The Enforcer (1976) and Maximum Overdrive (1986). :(

Those two I mentioned previously are in relation to a character getting killed off, as such carrying emotional impact.

The most epic car-related explosion on film (to me) is the Kenworth tanker exploding in Licence to Kill (14th thumb). It's so powerful that the camera visibly shakes from it.

Mine is the Renault 4 van at the end of Spyship, even if I'm the only one of us who's ever watched the series and it's only a mundane little van. But it's one of those screen moments that hits you sideways ....
