Is this a real Abrams or something else in disguise? |

I would put my money on it being a fake. But who knows for sure. ![]() |

I think I recall seeing this footage (or very similar footage) in an actual video shot in Iraq, so it could be real. |

Nope. This is actually a visually modified British Centurion tank, rented out by this company: http://www.armytrucks.com All of the M1 Abrams tanks you see in movies and TV shows are actually the modified Centurions rented out by this company. The only exception is "War of the Worlds", which had DoD cooperation. Any other production featuring an M1 Abrams, uses these dressed-up Centurions. |

Unless that movie uses archive footage as CougarTim pointed out ![]() |

Yes, I just found the video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJC1unnuwds I originally didn't look for it because I didn't want this to turn into a discussion of the morality of the soldiers' actions, so let's just concentrate on the tank here, please. |

Ugh, i hadn't seen that video before...but nevermind. This is about vehicles. Anyhow, that's basically the proof that this is a real Abrams tank. Thanks for the link CougarTim ![]() |

Huh! I was wrong. Go figure. It's just that this movie had no DoD cooperation, but I didn't think they'd use stock footage like that... |
