Michał, are there any websites in where we can see the line up of FSOs? or are they not built anymore? |

Currently FSO makes the old Daewoo Matiz and Lanos. http://www.fso-sa.com.pl/ They're also going to assemble GM Daewoo/Chevrolet cars for sale in the EU. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fabryka_Samochod%C3%B3w_Osobowych |

According to last plans FSO as make will disappear in the nearest two years (then they will be enlarging number of produced Korean Chevrolets for the EU market). Today, these last FSO's are just clones of Daewoos and their sale here is very small (most of them is exported to Ukraine). http://www.fso-sa.com.pl/samochody/samochody.html The company was in critical situation couple years ago. Last Polonez was made in 2002. http://www.emoto.com.pl/upl/photo/33135/medium/photo1 Edit: I'm a bit too late -- Last edit: 2008-06-02 23:00:14 |

I guess that the market is more international nowadays so they have many other brands to compete with? therefore they dont sell anything? |

Well let's be honest these weren't brilliant cars , but also, during the 1990's, the company was privatized and sold in a very stupid and controversial way. |

That's probalby too long and too hard to translate story. They just wanted to sell the plant and earn money on this, seems completly didn't care about its future. Also choose pretty bad investor instead of well known manufacturer (there were such offers even in the 1980's). In the mid 1990's not many people in Europe heard about Daewoo, today not many also remember about it. -- Last edit: 2008-06-02 23:37:22 |

Paraphrasing from Wikipedia: FSO was sold in 1995 to Daewoo, which also bought the Oltcit factory in Romania in the same year and bought the Lublin van factory (I'm not sure when). Daewoo went bankrupt in 2000; GM bought its car assets in South Korea but not the overseas plants or the truck and bus divisions. FSO ended up back in government hands and managed to obtain the rights to continue making its existing Daewoo models. It also began supplying kits to AvtoZAZ in Ukraine. FSO began negotiations with MG Rover, which didn't lead to anything. More or less by default, UkrAvto, AvtoZAZ's parent, was left as FSO's only possible partner. UkrAvto gradually acquired majority ownership of FSO. Most recently, FSO has begun assembling Chevrolets for GM Daewoo, as discussed above. |
