Looks like a smaller European car - Oxford S3 perhaps?

I am thinking about a Lancia Appia series II (1956-1959).

My vote for Oxford S3. Before reading comments.

I pretty sure that's not a 403...I vote for an Oxford III

I'm voting 403. Oxford S3 has more pointy bits (fins, over-riders), S2 more rounded.

C-pillar and more vertical boot line look 403 but fins more Oxford. So 2-1 to the 403 :D

the rear fenders of the 403 are not so sharp and the bumper is different ; let's look at the size of the rear window too...maybe we have to look elsewhere ?

I think that's an US car. here at 33"40 & ~45"15 -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwVPf5iN7IM

...and the winner is.... :D

I'm still voting 403 - there is a sharp dent in the rear wing as circled above if you find a picture with the necessary light angle to highlight it. Definitely not Oxford S3 - as I said before, fins and over-riders are wrong, plus there's no filler cap seen. And if this is US, no Oxfords listed there after MO (= "S1") until S5 ADO9, but 403s did happen there in small numbers.

But any other suggestions welcome.

what do you think of a Vauxhall cresta E 1955 ?

My first impression was also a Lancia Appia, as @electra225 said.

Definitely not.

Appia might work - it's listed in US from about 1955 (S1?) to 1960 (S3), but unclear if this was theoretical or real availability. However, if Appia it's earlier than Gangora's linked picture as smaller lights.

I’ve also eliminated Fiat 1400. Lights wrong, rear windscreen wrong, and there’s no way it’s an Oxford. Inter alia, the c-pillar is the wrong shape.
