During 1990, Nissan completed design work on updates to the B13, which launched in late 1991/Jan 1992 for JDM and August 1992 for export markets for the 1993 model year. These design changes were a modification to the original B13 design, which was previously finalized (in lifesize form) internally in early 1987 at Nissan design studios. The B13 was launched in January 1990, updated in January 1992 and August 1992, then redesigned to B14 in December 1993/Jan 1994 (JDM) and early 1995 (USA).
