Why?

I think because of the body-coloured door handles etc.

Difficult to say, but they look black to me. The big update was 1997 (body coloured trim, different alloys and going down to 600 badging) rather than 1998.

If trims were the same in Germany this should be the GSi (probably a 623, though it is parked by the diesel pump...)

Mirror shells look unpainted so before the April 1997 changes. However, it's after the 1996 updates (can't find an exact date for these) as it has separate rear headrests.

:??: WTF, what's up with the fuel prices? 2,32 WHAT? Impossible, that's € - but the series shall be from 2003 onwards. So it seems to be D-Mark (1€ = 1,95583 D-Mark, so 1,19 € here], which means, that this scene was filmed before the 1.1.2002.
I just have checked, that (Normal)Benzin [91ROZ] disappeared in Germany in 2010. Since then the "Euro-Super" [95ROZ] is the lowest spec fuel we have here. "Super plus" has 98 Octane, so this is the equivalent to our "Super" from times, when leaded fuel was still available.

Feb 96. Glass's doesn't really say what they were, but 618i and Si and 620GSDi launched, 623 SLi stopped, and 620GSi reintroduced after stopped in April 94.

For reference, it seems to be a CHMSL, different interior (rear seats with separate headrests most noticable) and 15inch wheels with a new hubcap design on lesser models (the 623GSI always had the same 15inch alloys before and after all the updates). Also think that was when the badge changed from 620Si/etc to 600.

In April 1997, they seemingly colour coded the sills, door handles and mirror shells, changed the suspension so the cars had a lower stance and (I think) introduced alloy wheels to the Si and SLi.

Before that the only observable changes I can find were fitting an airbag (so different steering wheel) and introducing new versions (diesels and ti came in July 1994).

Apr 94 was airbag steering wheel, plus leather-rimmed in posher versions. Also invisible stuff like uprated immobiliser with plip control and new RDS radio cassette.

July 94 620 ti launched

Dec 94 620 SDi and SLDi launched

April 97 Glass's only mentions 620Di launch, but defines it as body coloured bumpers, mirrors and side strips, green tints plus lots of invisible/interior stuff. Nothing about changes to other models, but your info looks convincing for a range-wide update.
