![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last seen in 2015, in not-so-well condition. The current owner said he wanted to restore the "Baka-tan" to how we saw it in the film, but we don't know if progress has been made since. |

Base vehicle looks like a Studebaker M29 Weasel. Is there any photo of the supposed "Ohara Fubuki" its meant to be based on? The only results on google are this page. -- Last edit: 2024-10-12 01:21:54 |

This was the best I could find: https://www.excite.co.jp/news/article/00091107847649/ Ohara apparently has footages available, but the one they uploaded online doesn't work, probably because you need Adobe Flash to run it: https://www.oharacorp.co.jp/50kinen/movie/fubuki1.html https://www.oharacorp.co.jp/50th-anniversary/movie/fubuki2.html# |

Oh how interesting. I never would have found that. The early models definitely use the M29's suspension. I would not be surprised if the prototypes were built directly out of surplus M29 hulls. The movie vehicle's tracks are not quite normal M29 tracks. The tracks on the KC40 model don't match, and I can't make out the tracks of the SM-5. It probably wouldn't be one of the prototypes. I found this, where the owner says it's a Fubuki, but doesn't specify what kind. https://x.com/tankmuseum_jp/status/571263579208298496 My guess then would be Ohara Iron Works Fubuki SM-5 ( 大原鉄工所 吹雪号SM-5型 ) -- Last edit: 2024-11-11 23:38:28 |
