Doesn't look that much worse from modern car designs.

Whatever it is, I think that's a neat design.

I'd rather stare at this than a C-HR/Juke.

Well..compared to other things in the Toyota showroom, like a Mirai or a Prius.

And then there's this problem:

^ Good call. Only 2nd on the site /v315774.html could be the same car, though they supposedly made about 150 of them.

"Bill Voegele started working at Fiberfab, a well-known glass-fibre kit car company, in the late sixties, a period during which this type of company was on the crest of a wave....So he formed the idea of starting his own company along with two other former colleagues, who in the meantime had started to make their own glass-fibre cars, also in Santa Clara, California. John Hebler and John Ubina had founded Hebina Plastics....were having various difficulties bringing their new product, the Gazelle, on to the market....From 1970 Hebina Plastics changed its name to Voegele Industries and....Gazelle wasn’t the most suitable name for the car so he proposed changing it to Amante....fitted with various engines including VW and Porsche units....an Amante with a modified chassis was fitted with a Ford V8....A total of about 150 cars were sold, mainly on the American market, although a few did make it to England...."

Again not sure [Typ 1] is accurate, chassis is unique and used various engines not just VW. So not a dressed up beetle.

Well, I think it's better looking than the similar Fiberfab Avenger GT (only similar in front styling). The rear of this is much better looking than the front, though.

Actually with the hidden headlights, it looks quite alright from the front as well.

Proportions aren't bad I think, could do with a shorter front overhang. A cross between a Marcos GT and a 904 perhaps.
