How should we list this? Dauphine of Ondine? |

With this under bumper chrome trim, normally it's an Ondine in the French Market... But I don't know the details for all export models... |

it differs from the basic version by some internal and technical improvements: here is an extract from the wiki translated from French https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_Dauphine#Ondine " For the 1961 and 1962 models, there is a better presented version (carpet, matte black dashboard, Florida type steering wheel) named Ondine. Most of the improvements were later integrated into the other models. The Ondine (type R1090A) has a four-speed gearbox and reclining front seats. The Ondine Gordini (type 1091A) combines the finish of the Ondine with the technical features of the Dauphine Gordini. It succeeded the Ondine in December 1960 and disappeared at the beginning of the 1963 model year." By the way : it's a Renault, modele "Dauphine", product range "Ondine" what is interesting in this picture is the right hand drive...would renault have produced a model of this type for Asia and the former french colonies like indochina ? -- Last edit: 2021-12-16 20:02:55 |

I just checked the episode, and this shot is not archive film. It has a grain effect applied to bridge the gap between real archive film of Pakistan (which is much fainter) and the next shot, which is /vehicle_1588964-Volkswagen-Typ-2-T2.html The light blue car next to the Renault reappears in the next shot, and we then see Charles and Marie-Andrée step out of the bus. To cut a long story short, the Renault is probably "made for Thailand". |

Possibly UK build - did Acton provide these for export? Thailand seems to have been a friendly market for receiving British stuff in 50s and 60s.. |
