Shiny new product placement (with state of the art radio and sunroof)?? But Hawk Mk3 with different body arrived Oct 48, so a late Mk2?? Mk1 as entered isn't wrong, as they were externally identical - the only real difference was Mk2 had steering column gear selector, supposedly for wider export appeal.

The column mounted "speed change lever" was also designed to supposedly make the operation of the vehicle easier for women. The advertising materials of the time make this very clear showing an elegantly gloved female hand operating the controls. The sales-room brochures also push this aspect with pictures of ladies using both floor mounted and column mounted controls and seemingly distracted from the road by having to look at a lever on the floor. How times have changed! If I remember correctly, the Mk 2 had provision for fitment of a radio and heater from new. I'm not sure this was the case with the Mk 1. And it's not a sunroof but a "sliding head" - Humber had to go one better!
