I was a London bus driver (..up until two weeks ago)... but have never driven a routemaster(RM) & don't know who made them.! (I was driving Newer Buses ...A Scania Omnicity for three years.! ..also occasionally Old Volvo's ...and Dennis Dart,Pointer,Trident etc..) ...nice driving... but nasty People.!

The Routemasters were made by AEC.

Most of theme were AEC, but some have been under Leyland (as AEC was melt in Leyland group in the 70's)

...but the last Routemaster was built in 1968; Leyland had already taken over AEC by then. All Routemasters were AECs, although many were new with Leyland engines. The badge on the radiator is a London Transport version of the AEC badge - go to http://bobsroutemasterpage.fotopic.net/p23013923.html to see a photograph of the front of RML2760, the last Routemaster built.

RM 1294 new in 1962 eventually sold by Lodon Transport found its way to Negombo, Sri Lanka.
