I was a London bus driver (..up until two weeks ago)... but have never driven a routemaster(RM) & don't know who made them.! (I was driving Newer Buses ...A Scania Omnicity for three years.! ..also occasionally Old Volvo's ...and Dennis Dart,Pointer,Trident etc..) ...nice driving... but nasty People.! |

Most of theme were AEC, but some have been under Leyland (as AEC was melt in Leyland group in the 70's) |

...but the last Routemaster was built in 1968; Leyland had already taken over AEC by then. All Routemasters were AECs, although many were new with Leyland engines. The badge on the radiator is a London Transport version of the AEC badge - go to http://bobsroutemasterpage.fotopic.net/p23013923.html to see a photograph of the front of RML2760, the last Routemaster built. .....and that's an RT in the background of the main picture |

RM 1294 new in 1962 eventually sold by Lodon Transport found its way to Negombo, Sri Lanka. |
