Started out as a 1959 Ford. Obviously converted to a special bodied hearse. |

The only places I've seen hearses like that are in Europe and Australia. There was some biopic during the 1980's about some Australian rock musician, and his self-destructive life that ended with footage of his funeral pasted over a concert during an attempted comeback, and it had an early-1970's Ford Funeral Car with the same type of hearse. |

As far as I know it was a 1959 Fairlane. The hearse is well known among enthusiasts. I have several factory photographs of this car (and an original advertisement, I think). It was custom-tailored by Pollmann Karosseriefabrik of Bremen/ Germany. Edit: No, the factory photographs show a different, but similar vehicle. Have a promotional shot from the movie instead: ![]() -- Last edit: 2020-11-24 14:13:23 |

I see amber indicater on the grille. Is this a requirement in Germany? -- Last edit: 2008-11-16 23:17:26 |

Hi! I have a 1959 Ford Hearse made by Smith Coach builders from NSW Australia. I have some pics and there is a link to a story on the car on my Rockabilly bands website www.wildturkeymusic.com ![]() |

Clearly started as a two-door. Ranchero, maybe? |
