Ah, so in Czechoslovakia there were similar problems as in the DDR? No kidding: the lack of oranges, bananas and coffee -and real cars- in the DDR was one of the reasons for its collapse in 1989/1990. |

I did not know ... In Franco's time it was a widely used tactic since the most valuable asset was foreign currency and liquid money. So the government bought the oranges from Spanish farmers and the money stayed in Spain ... I imagine that Czechoslovakia would have a lack of liquidity or fruits... |
