Front engine top fuel dragster.............Quote by Don Spraque: Before the movie, it was raced by the Masters and Richter Team. (This fact is refuted by Larry Anderson who states that the Masters and Richter car was a Fuller chassis and the one in More American Graffiti was a Don Long Chassis.) Before the movie, the car was raced in Northern California in the AA/FD class for several years. Before the movie, it had a 392 hemi in it. The picture was probably taken in 1967 or 1968. |

Firebird86, This is not the Masters and Richter car in the picture. The car in this picture is not "Milners Car" from More American Graffiti. The image here looks like a Don Long Chassis which was the other car in the movie. What Milner drove was the M&R Special repainted with another engine mounted. Here is the M&R Special (Note: This is only a model based on pictures so accuracy is not perfect): ![]() Another model of the other car (There were two cars, but I don't know which one was first and crashed): ![]() A picture of the real M&R: ![]() Another real picture of the M&R (The earlier caar I think): ![]() Here is Milner's Car from the movie: ![]() This is the same car (A Fuller Chassis) with minor mods (Engine replaced and a new paintjob). I would be glad if it were not the same car because the car from the movie was sold to Roy Brizio and it supposedly was destroyed in a trailer fire. -- Last edit: 2009-04-29 06:12:22 |

Look at the picture of the movie car and pictures of the M&R car. Specifically look at distance between engine and fuel tank. The movie car is obviously longer. It was not uncommon in the 60s as these cars evolved for teams to lengthen their cars so it may be the same chassis but later longer version. I owned an original M&R car with fuller chassis in the early 70s and sold it in 1974 time frame. It had a longer chassis but different fuel tank set between the frame rails near front if chassis. The steering links were also lower and ran under the headers so similar but not exactly same car. |
