johnfromstaffs ◊ 2020-08-24 12:34	Production of any type of vehicle from ckd kits is a minefield for the kits’ originator. I have been involved in this work, stuff gets broken or lost on the shop floor and the tendency is for the builder to rob items from later kits and try to persuade the supplier that the part was missing or arrived broken and is therefore their responsibility to supply f.o.c. to make up the deficiencies. It’s even worse with complex modification kits supplied to the user for incorporation, especially if the mods take place off site in the field. We found that the best way of keeping losses to a minimum, as the supplier, was to shrink wrap kits with a user witness present, until mutual respect grew and also breakages became fewer when the fitters became accustomed to the work.
