Looks like a Suzuki Ram-Air motor, in '72 that would have to be 380 or 550, 500's never got Ram-Air, 250's not introduced 'til 73, just a problem of where's the middle exhaust?

The red Hillman Minx on the right is worth listing.

Listing to Port or Starboard?

Minx is S5 - no S6 plaque on wing - so Hillman before the mid-66 Sunbeam export rebranding.

Yes but I don't want to do something unaccepted by others.

Maybe, but I have spent most of my life doing things that are not accepted by others.

Voting Tory, driving a car, eating meat, drinking beer, selling arms, voting Liberal, watching cricket, playing hockey, smoking, giving up smoking, voting Monster Raving Looney, flying on holiday, existing, supporting West Bromwich Albion, having a child, reading the Times, reading the Telegraph, refusing to read the Grauniad, reading Private Eye, not having more children, disliking modern “music”, listening to the BBC, but not believing its propaganda, etc. etc.

What the heck!

I did most of what you did or even less accepted by others. I spent a long time in the Middle East. I love old polluting vehicles, I am hosting African refugees, I am a teacher...

Your tipically English humour is lovely...

 strange thinking - I never consider such quirky ideas.

For IMUmlautDb:
The motorbike trailer in the middle, the bloke with Suzuki-shirt is handling with, has a plate from:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_Säckingen
(expired at the 31.12.1972)
It was the only case, the "Ä" was used in the German license plate system.

I'd agree with Suzuki - due the shirts the two guys are wearing.

Well... in the past I was reproved by more than one in this site for having added a car without having asked the permission...

In which sense ? I remember many plates with A; A for Augsburg, MA for Mannheim, BAD for Baden Baden...etc
I am sure I missunderstood what you mean.

as Dimitry P shows: it's about the Ä, not the A - the Ä is a different letter with a different pronouncing (same with Ö/O and Ü/U) - and even a different spelling: correct is "AE", "OE" and "UE", so "Buessing", not "Bussing"

Thank you but I know the difference. I simply didn't watch well.
Why is the A mit Umlaut vorbidden in German plates ?

It is/was not forbidden - it was the only case, where it was needed.

A bizarre historic detail about the "Q": it never appeared in the DIN-range for plates.
So it had to be introduced in 1990 for the East German counties Quedlinburg and Querfurt - but for some unknown reasons some morons in the ministery refused that and planned the codes "EDL" and "EFT" - but the complains, that this was bullshit, were successful, so "QDL" and "QFT" came finally.

550 for sidecar cross would be the best choice. Introduced only in 1972, I wonder if an amateur team could afford to disassemble a brand new motorcycle. If so, maybe they unscrewed the middle exhaust for repair?
