Pre war (VL) or lend-lease (WLA 45) Harley, unlikely to be anything post war due to civil war? Unless it's a Rikuo from Japan? Any shots from bike side so I can determine engine & drive side? |

A Rikuo left over from the Japanese occupation of Shanghai would have the sidecar on the left. /vehicle_1152109-Rikuo-Type-97.html |

I was thinking post revolution/civil war export to China, VLE 1200. Unlikely but possible? Anything from Milwaukee after 1948ish would be impossible (assuming the US supplied the nationalists, not something we covered in history at school), so in effect anything post war must be Japanese, was there a trade deal with PRC or was policy still dictated from Washington? 1950's global politics involved in identiying a motorcycle. -- Last edit: 2019-09-06 22:34:55 |

Japan established diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China in 1972 (it had previously recognised the Nationalists/ROC/Taiwan as "China"), so there was presumably no direct trade before then. Link to "en.wikipedia.org" |
