511/513? How many names one car can have? I've never heard about these. ![]() If they are Yugos I know them as Skala http://www.kultur.at/van/flame/gast/set01/gast038.htm Though the other names are also possible. |

These Skala's are pre-1992 (probablly 1990-1991), you can recognize them because they have different dashboard. Until mid-1991. dashboards and all the plastics for Zastava/Yugo factory was made in "Jugoplastika", factory in city of Split, now in Croatia. Due to civil war in Croatia in 1991, Jugoplastika stopped producing parts for Zastava. In 1992. Zastava started making plastic parts on it's own, and their quality was poor compared to Jugoplastika's parts. That also happened with 500+ components of all Zastava cars, because when Yugoslavia fell apart in 1992, all factories that weren't from Serbia stopped producing parts for Zastava. Old dashes were used while they had them on stock, and after they run out of them they started making new ones. On following pictures you can see the difference between pre-1992 dash and after-1992 dash: Pre-1992: ![]() After-1992: ![]() -- Last edit: 2009-06-27 17:26:10 |

I also gave a look to Wikipedia and remained speechless!! If this car is still available & priced under 4000 euros what's new about the Tata Nano? If most West European compacts haven't independent rear suspension (in 2009!) why is it left so far behind? It's a little bit like asking why today's car magazines remain so impressed if a car measuring 3,00 meters can accomodate 4 adults (Toyota IQ) when this has been possible half century before (Mini Seven) allowing also those adults to carry with them something more than a mobile-phone.. You don't need to look to a Citroen SM to realise that car industrie didn't make a spectacular progress the last 50 years, admire the Yugo Skala.. is more than enough! ![]() -- Last edit: 2009-06-27 10:33:58 |

Fiat bought Zastava last year and ended production of all Zastava's own models in November. IIRC production of the Zastava 10 (second generation Fiat Punto) was going to resume under the Fiat name. |

Yes, Yugo production ended on November 1st, 2008., and Skala's production ended 20 days later, on 20th of November. From 30th of March, 2009. Fiat started producing Fiat Punto 2. I bought one, it costs about 7000 euros, and I got 1000 euro discount because I'll recycle an old car (Yugo 45A, you can see where "Die Hard 3" Yugo pictures are, i bought it for 200 euros). Cheapest Punto Classic (that's it's official name) costs 6000 euros with "recycle old car" discount. My Punto should arrive in a week or so.:D |
