Still no help, but according to the National Transport Museum of Ireland, Premier Dairies used Smiths tackle. My milk knowledge stops at drinking the stuff, but the museum has a Smiths vehicle of this vintage, and a later Cabac, both of Premier ownership. |

https://youtu.be/gzRg0v5Qjh8?t=2452 5 or maybe 6 of these come out of the dairy yard in a continuous line - I think they're all the same make but maybe different sizes and rear view canopies have different shapes. Some front plates seen but too blurry to read, although look like ABC 123 format. 2 glimpses of rear plates - one starts BZ but cut off by picture edge so unknown if BZ 1234 (County Down, April 1930 to Oct 46) or BZx 123 (some Dublin series 1959-64). Another one has a rear plate which might be MZE 783 (Dublin, Jan-Feb 64). So I think they're an early 60s Dublin fleet, but can't get more from the plates. |

Possibly CZL 216 = Dublin, July-Aug 1967. Nothing on check sites now. |

CZL 216 - Premier Smiths Battery Milk Float K38 - 1967 - similar enough in appearance to confirm it I think? The fact that the large battery boxes are not seen along the sides, within the wheelbase, looks distinctive compared to most electric milk floats. From the National Transport Museum of Ireland stocklist... http://www.nationaltransportmuseum.org/stocklist.html edit: looking at the YouTube clip there are at least three different types seen (as mentioned before) but by chance the one pictured is very like the museum exhibit CZL 216. -- Last edit: 2019-07-01 12:19:19 |
