The most similar thing that I found was the photo of an "ACL" (a 2CV-based car made in Germany) : http://www.citroen.ac/agalerie/liste.asp?ID=1073741824&GA=17 |

it's neither a Citroen nor a german make, but a french make ACL which produced a kind of "Méhari" on Renault 4 base, with polyester body. The model was even included in the Renault range during several years as Rodeo |

Could be a Renault Rodeo. Based on R4, R6 and finally R5 (1971-86) I don´t find any good pictures on the net at the moment though. |

There are lots of different bodys for Rodeo, that's why I searched for another car. The first Rodeos that I found on Google were not looking like that. But I found this one listed as a Rodeo from 1977 (which is annoying for a 1974 movie): http://pic.autoscout24.de/images/5/9/3/50653395_1.jpg -- Last edit: 2005-10-25 00:00:17 |

IT IS an ACL (Ateliers de Constructions de la Loire) with Renault 4 Chassis 2108 and engine 845cc . This car was sell through Renault Commercial agencies...then became a model of Renault (still made by ACL) in the seventies, they stopped it in the early 80's I think...so we can consider as a renault , but the fisrt years of production were with the name of ACL...(I have a flyer of it from Paris motor show 1971) |

Was it already called "Rodeo" when it was an ACL? I guess it is more correct to choose between ACL and Renault, instead of calling it "Renault ACL Rodeo" -- Last edit: 2005-10-25 09:41:30 |

Yes it was ACL Rodeo (there even were several versions depending on the type of tarpaulin), that why I first named it as ACL (as independant maker) and not Renault. The fact is that the later models mid 70's, early 80's (I don't know precisely the years) were included as Renault product, and might had some different accessories and détails than the original ACL. So we could have Rodeo from 1970 to 1974 as ACL Rodeo, then the model coming later as RENAULT Rodeo too...unfortunately I don't have bibliographics element here to find variations on this car during all its production... |
