FM Summerfield Ltd assembled 707 Chryslers, Plymouths and De Sotos in Dublin from 1934 until 1941 when the factory was suspended. My book says Plymouth builds were P2, P4, P6, P8, P10 and P12, with Chryslers being C6, C7, C16, C18 and C22. All Plymouths were badged as Chryslers, and had local model names, including FMS and named after local racecourses - Baldoyle, Leopardstown, along with De Soto Curragh. Six P14 Plymouths were imported in 1941 but not assembled until 1945 when the plant reopened to build Chrysler Fargo trucks, with car builds restarting in 1946 with Plymouth P15 (sold as Plymouth) and Chrysler Windsor C38W. Some of the builds before and after WW2 included seven-seaters. So loads to choose from, but unlikely to be an actual 1942. |
