I'd have to research, but this one could even be 1985+ as it has a white plate (if original of course) ![]() |

I've found some info about cars' indicators, fog, reverse lights in Italy. 1959 - clear indicator lenses mandated. Jan 24th, 1977 - amber indicator lenses mandated. March 28th, 1972 - rear fog light(s) allowed. Jan 1st, 1989 - rear fog light(s) mandated. Jan 1st, 1998 - reverse light(s) mandated. |

Looks like Renault 4 had fog light unit under rear bumper for countries with its mandatory before 1990 MY (for example April 1980 in UK). -- Last edit: 2025-08-23 10:36:04 |

I was coming here because I found some information but you were faster and more detailed ![]() Anyway, I consulted Quattroruote August 1982 issue which has the introduction article for 1983MY R4 and it says that the updated model had: hidden door hinges, new dashboard, plastic external mirror, interior mirror glued to the windshield, black wipers and reverse lights for GTL researching further and thanks also to this gallery: https://www.targhenere.net/gallery/photogallery.php?album_id=120 it seems that TL trim had them since 1984. |

Well done! The German market is similar case - demanded more equipment than domestic. Here we've the low trim R4 for Germany, in 1985 movie - with headrests & reverse lights. |
