:hello: Are you sure it is not a Mack? It looks really close to a Mack, and I thought I saw the word "Mack" on it too. But I'm not a good judge.

And what year is it?

:hello: I did some research, and couldn't find anything that resembles this truck made by White Motors. I found a White 9000 Series and it looks way more like that White 4000 Series also in Maximum Overdrive. And I found the White 9000 T series. I will continue to post info on my searches. I am still looking for a Mack that resembles this truck.

Ya, it's gotta be some kind of Mack.

Barreiros

2006-03-20 15:11

Nope, not a Mack. It is a White ... 4000. There were two hood styles on the 4000, the earlier like this one, and the later one like the other White 4000 in this movie has. The cab is the same on both but was also used by other manufacturers like Autocar and Diamond Reo.
Here's a pic for convenience: Link to "www.hankstruckpictures.com"

That Triple T logo on the mudflaps is seen on several other trucks in the movie.

I think the triple T is for the Truck-Trailer-Transit corp., a Detroit based company introducing the wedge brake system for trucks, trailers and transit buses in the early 80s. Countless trucks were then retrofitted with that system and may have received these mudflaps to advertise the services of TTT corp., or alert following trucks that weren't yet converted that the rig in front of them has superior braking abilities.

The shots from the inside the cab looks just like the ones they used later on when the Mack B61 chases the Malibu, though.

Whats the deal with the sound that this truck makes when it starts up? Sounds crazy lol.

firebird86 US

2006-04-14 07:51

That crazy sound is a "pneumatic" air powered starter, no electrical starter. It almost sounds like an impact gun when it starts. If the truck doesnt have any air pressure built up, then you have to plug an air line into it. Its actually a very dependable system.

If you have seen Mad Max 2, you know when Max tries to start up the Mack the first time, the sound is quite similar to this one. :)

White 9000 with the Autocar "Driver's cab" or later known as the corporate cab, with the round fenders, used until 1966.It also has the old style aircleaner on the R.H. side. There seemed to be quite a few of these bought in 1965,as most of the ones I have seen were '65's.For 1967,they went to a squared of fiberglass front fender, and the eggcrate grille.

I believe motard was correct that this was a pre-1966 model. The "1968" came from Rhino, and he frequently gave the wrong model years for these vehicles.

The TTT logo is a company called Triple T. The brand was started in 1967 and was started in North Carolina.

Wait a minute... this can't be a 9000 cause my uncle had one, and the fenders were squared at the front and the lights were inset partially inside of them, this one has completely round fenders and the headlights are mounted onto the fender and not inset.

BricklinSV1 NZ

Id go with white 9000 also. Cummins engine, pneumatic starter. And being remote controlled it has hydro-static trans as used in small lawn tractors (evident by way of revving engine, jerking movements and only able to do the same speed from go to wo).

The truck has a fifth wheel towing device mounted but I doubt it was homemade. Many of these devices were produced through the years. The US Army actually uses a modern counterpart. The pictures I have aren't clear enough to determine manufacturer though.

Triple T company is a truck servicing company that services and supply truck parts, they have five servicing centres in both North Carolina and South Carolina.

One of those five is in Wilmington, it is located at 2715 US Highway 421 North just a mile south of the Interstate 140 Bypass.

Nice name for a White 9000, "Bertha".

Thesketchydude13 CA

Specifically it is a White 9064TD, from probably 1964 to 1967, as thats when they started offering the "Custom Cab" to buyers (just Rebranded Autocar cab) but without the frontal hood badging (for some reason Scrapped off on this example...) its pretty hard to pinpoint as they changed the original Stylized White logo to big blocky WHITE just before they moved to the later facelift design with Fiberglass box fenders in the late 1960s

interestingly it appears to have a straight across "Heavy" frame where most White 9000s seem to have a curved thinner style one...again probably the original buyers choice as It does not seem to be standard, also I'm 99% sure the editors for the film faffed up because the shot of the foot pedal in this scene is of the Mack B-65/67 as the tellatale green is still visible despite being dirty and chipped, but when that scene happens and you see it chase after Curt and Connie you can see the foot pedal of the White being pressed as it has the clear red color of the interior whereas the Mack was Green...not to mention they used the shifting gears of the Green interior Mack twice for both trucks even though they are vastly different but thats besides the point lol

The actual driver used that wheel to drive the truck without being seen. It could be removed and attached to another truck fairly easily. You can also notice the horrendous shape that this truck was in, it really shows how bad the trucks used on-screen were.

Bray7 US

2022-06-01 17:56

Also to confirm sketchydude's comment. I believe that this truck was one of the later ones built, I believe the year 1967 is a matching year.

Although the logo is scrapped off of this truck, if you look closely during the film you can see a fade mark that matches that of the "newer" style White logo.

He was also correct on the model name. So this thing should probably be listed as a 1967 White 9064TD. And the grey 9000TD should be unlisted as it is just the same truck as this one.
