It's very difficult to see the shut lines of the bonnet, but the shape does seem to follow the flat top of the Royce radiator grille quite well. In this case, the car may well be a Silver Dawn Standard Steel Saloon, of the second series as indicated by the large boot with the number plate mounted upon it. If anyone has a better computer or keener eyesight than I, it may still turn out to be a Bentley R-type, but for what it's worth, my money's on it being kosher.

It also has horrible white tyres, and a typically drooping rear door handle.

What does strike me as odd is that the car is apparently right hand drive, in America, and most of these cars built were for export and were left hand drive. That is the main reason for my reservation that it might be a well executed converted Bentley.

As the Silver Dawn in due course became availalble to the home market, the number of RHD is quite high. There is no reaon why this isn't a Silver Dawn, imported later into the USA

That would have been a much better choice from which to identify the car.
