Stoddard-Dayton 1911 of the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry in the 1946 Chicago-Evanston race ( Dayton Motor Car Co. , Dayton , Ohio ).It is one of the 4 cylinder cars.In 1951 the museum entered this car with mechanic Rube de Launty ( at age 69) of the restoration shop of the museum against another museum car , a 1913 Stanley Steamer driven by his colluegue Jack Brause ( aged 76) on the Chicago to New York route ( 1700 km).Brause finally won with the Stanley after an epic race. |
