Begining with the seventh season this '74 Marquis Brougham replaced the '68 Parklane Brougham as Steve McGarrett's car. After the show finished production, Jack Lord gave the car to his stunt double, John Nordlum. Here is a photo of John and the car in front of the Iolani Palace.![]() -- Last edit: 2009-11-01 01:56:06 |

This is true, this car did replace the 68 Mercury Parklane, which replaced the 67 Marquis from the "Pilot" TV Movie. The 67 was only used in the "Pilot" TV movie "Cocoon." Starting with the first regular series episode ("Full Fathom Five") the 68 Parklane was implemented as McGarrett's car. The 74 Marquis (pictured above) is what replaced the 68 Parklane part way into season 7, and what McGarrett finished out the show with. This Merc is also what Jack Lord was driven back and forth in from his house to the set. Lord gave it to John Nordlum (his stunt double--and pictured above) after the show was cancelled. It's said that Lord asked Nordlum why he wanted that old heap. Nordlum replied that he'd driven that car so much while filming, and had had so many adventures of tire squealing action, that he'd grown too attached to it to just let it go. Lord laughed and gave the car to him. Nordlum kept it and drove it until around 1999, when I believe it was auctioned off at one of the "Five-0" reunion conventions. -- Last edit: 2009-11-11 07:56:34 |

Jack Lord's stuntman, John Nordlum, acquired the 74 Merc after the show was cancelled...as I stated in my earlier post above. It was thought to have been auctioned off at one of the "Hawaii Five-0" reunion conventions in the late 1990's. However, that rumor was false! He still has the car, and says he does not plan to ever get rid of it! He did loan it out to the producers of the new "Hawaii Five-0" series, that started this past fall. They gave it a new coat of paint and it's supposed to be the new McGarrett's father's old car that he plans on slowly restoring over the coarse of the show. The car was featured once during the "Pilot" episode...but has only been referred to since. I'm truly hoping it's shown at least a few more times. ![]() |

It finally showed up again in the new show! Lord's old '74 Merc was once again featured in the beginning of last night's new "Hawaii Five-0" episode. I still hope it "pops" up again in a few more. ![]() |

I think you're right...I don't think the main pic shows Lord's 74 Merc! ![]() Anyway, Lord's old 74 Marquis continues to be seen on the new, updated "Hawaii Five-0"...it's still just as awesome as it ever was! ![]() -- Last edit: 2014-11-16 06:51:23 |

In a few episodes of Five-0 (Early Season 7) Steve is shown driving a black 73 Marquis Brougham. Oddly enough it had his F6-3958 License plate on it. The main photo for this page is indeed a '73. Someone should really change it. -- Last edit: 2018-03-24 02:41:45 |

The first episode we see the 1974 Marquis is 7.09. I replaced the pic from 7.04, which was a 1973. The 1973 shows up again in ep 7.11, but it seems the rest of Season 7 had the 1974 and sometimes the old 1968 Park Lane. The 1974 has wheels with red inserts.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

McGarrett's car was a Marquis Brougham, not a Grand Marquis. The Grand Marquis was introduced in 1975. |
