Hey guys, have you noticed, that on the right thumbnail you can see an Opel Rekord C? The light blue, burned car underneath the car, similar like a Ford Pinto? I didn't know, that the Rekord C was also exported to America, except the GT, the Kadett B/Olympia A, Ascona A and Manta A. -- Last edit: 2008-11-19 23:03:30 |

I saw that and wondered what it was. |

It does look like a Rekord C ! I don't think they were exported to the US (?). |

But here you can see an Opel Rekord C on an US-junkyard. Strange. I didn't know something about an export to the USA, so perhaps it's a car, imported privately by a GI? |

Maybe it's an Opel Olímpico, that came somehow from Mexico to L.A. |

I don't know what the silver car on top of it is, either. It's not a Pinto. |

I think that the car on top of the Opel is a Chevrolette Chevette? |
|

You're right, it was just a fast guessing by me. It looks more like the GM-car (K-car?), which was built and sold under a plenty of names. Chevette in the USA? It was named Vauxhall Chevette in the UK and Opel Kadett C in Continental Europe. This hatchback-version was the "Kadett City". By the shape of the back lamps, it's the American version. |

So maybe we should list this Opel ? It is quite unusual find. |

Yes, we should do so. As German Rekord or better as the Mexican version Olímpico? In California the second would be more likely, or? As I've seen in the www, this Mexican version was identical with the German orign, even the front lamps and no US-stuff like side-markers and so. |
