Just found this. The company I was working for back then provided the car for the filming. This was a totally rotten Sedan Series 62 parts car. At first, Bavaria Studios of Munich wanted to rent the car for the filming, but then found out that there wasn't enough space in the studio left. So they decided to buy the wreck instead and asked us to cut it in half, because they only needed the rear part for the filming. That's what happened and all the parts have later been used to complete other 1959 Cadillacs, while the rear half you see in the picture was converted into a Cadillac couch and subsequently sold (I believe it went to Italy). All the hubcaps and further car parts seen in the "Nasties" set also came from our stock and - after the movie was released - we were given large parts of the set seen above and placed it in our show room, along with the half 1959 Sedan. The movie was plain awful, but I loved the "Neverending Story" corner in our show room which I liked to spend my lunch breaks in. *reminiscing* -- Last edit: 2019-01-18 23:27:22 |
