Why 1994? I can't see a dashboard so it should be listed as a 1993. |

Because of the steel wheels. |

I can't understand what you mean with the wheels... Wheels can be easily swapped. So it should have a default value (like 1993 in this case). Don't get me wrong, it's just my opinion. |

Those steel wheels with the center caps were introduced for the 1994 models. Before then, the 1991-1993s only came standard with full-wheel covers. And yes, you're right, wheels can be easily swapped. There are even some examples of this happening with Caprices on this very site. However, going by that logic, we can say the same thing about nearly every other vehicle listed on this site that may or may not have wheels from a different model year. Anyhow, this appears to be (or have been at the time) a real NYPD Caprice based on the markings and its overall appearance. I'd say it's the real deal and that the wheels are original. |

This was a real New York City Police Department unit at the time. If it was a 1993 model, it would just have steels without the center caps (1993 models were ordered with the full wheelcovers and they would fall off with just the exposed steel wheel). |

For the record, the wheels from the 1991-1993 models were of a completely different design than the ones from the 1994-1996 models. I don't think that the center caps from a 1994-1996 wheel could fit on a 1991-1993 wheel. -- Last edit: 2013-07-18 07:02:15 |

I understand what you mean. So I should look better before a determination. But - as always in life - learning never stops! |

I agree. It's really just about looking at an entire car and seeing if everything fits. |
