@admins: As @ingo said, T2a, MY 1968-1971, as a late 1970 recording would allow for 1971. Why Made for N? Believe it was sold as Transporter, classified as Varebil (Cargo Van) by the legislation, actually back then allowing for transporting up to 8 people in the cargo compartment.... -- Last edit: 2012-07-05 10:48:54 |

Someone started naming them as VW Varebil way back, and I followed that system, even though they were probably sold as Transporter, indeed. It's made for N, anyway, as it has the mandatory mudflaps. |

Ah, the never-ending combat over Made for.... /vehicle.php?id=502000 The rear mudflaps were mandatory in N from October 1st 1960 until (April 1st?) 1981. -- Last edit: 2012-07-05 11:17:16 |

@tore-40: sometimes the irritating rule is used, that vehicles got the "made for ..." tag just for the reason, that there's annother name on the sales brochures. And for provoking a nitpicking-mud(flap)fight: mudflaps were mandatory in Norway, and in Sweden, too - but (at least at Volkswagen) they didn't belong to the factory "made for ..." parts! ![]() So at VW's it's wrong to list them as "made for N" just because of the mudflaps ![]() In the K 70-parts catalogue (for other VW's of that years goes the same code-systematics) I have only found two "made for N"-features: 1. the front side indicators (for DK, I and J, too) 2. an extra heating-cable into the carburator-cap for the version with startautomatic (1973+), for the other arctic countries S, SF and DK, too. That's all. No mudflaps. |

I was also of the opinion that mudflaps were added locally, but could not verify it. As this is prior to the age of side indicators the Made for N should be removed, if I understand correctly. as it still is a Transporter ![]() |

Well, more research doesn't make things plausible... In Sweden laminated frontscreens were mandatory, headrests and a right mirror, too, but these parts didn't have the "made for S" code. Maybe because they have already a code, for extra options? Otherwise: the 1974+ headlamp washer has a "made for S" code, but was available for extra charge in other countries, too ![]() Oh, were sunshields with make up-mirror forbidden in Sweden? ![]() |

You should find windscreen and rh mirror as well as two speed windshield washer, hazard lights and light horn from 69-70 and up, I belive, in "Made for N" as well. The latter are no visible changes, so no "Made for.." here.... Even if I could see as a boy the pattern the new film windows created, I remember, in the sun. ![]() -- Last edit: 2012-07-07 00:53:25 |

@ingo; Check out factory M-code 074 (Yes I know some time has passed) |

M74 is "back mudflaps" not specific for any country. |
