SA plate AA248X returns: 1998 "SS Limited Edition" trim. 5.0L automatic. This is a 1998+ "Series III" [VS] ute, not a [VR]. For one, it has clear side indicators, and secondly, it has the same 17" alloy wheels from the VT Commodore SS fitted to it. Obviously these wheels were not introduced until 1997. I think they were a dealer-fit accessory on the VS III ute (the largest size fitted as standard to VS was 16"), since I've seen a few fitted with these wheels.
