The unmarked unit -is- a '82 Diplomat,(1982 issue plate) but the Dallas PD had both Diplomats AND Gran Furies (Mostly Gran Furies) in this era? (And this 'is' a 'for real' Dallas Police car?) |

Well,at least they got the markings/model right, even the interior color?? (Dallas PD always got Tan interiors?) But that roof light is WAY wrong (DPD had dual lights, many still roof bar rotators) and didn't have the trim piece on the C-post??? Also missing: Unit number on quarter panel, which also then told the district. (1xx,2xx,3xx,4xx,5xx,6xx,7xx..."1",Central,"2" Northeast,"3",Southeast,"4",Southwest,"5",Northwest,"6",North Central,"7",Traffic (at the time...now South Central? "8",Tactical/SWAT...two digits were commanders/chiefs,four digits were unmarked units) Unit numbers changed about 1987 to Year Model of car + 3/4 digits. (Like '871234')then to last digit of year + 3 digits about 1992. (Like '8123') -- Last edit: 2019-01-05 00:43:41 |
