This is a MG MGA 1600 Roadster MkI of 1959 to 1961 because of typical rear lights. |

Shouldn't this be a MGA 1500, because of the single rear lights? |

This is a 1959 MGA. painted,I think, 1973 corvette yellow. It was my father's car. He painted it. He sold it to a teacher at the college animal house was filmed. I would love to know if this car was still around somewhere. |

Calling out to member "THE DAVE" who expressed interest in knowing if the Animal House MGA is still around. Looks like it IS and it is for sale right now on Ebay. Item number 264372515711. It is in the right part of the country, has the right yellow paint, has the story of being the movie car, and to me (as an MGA owner with some knowledge) MGAs did not come with radios or antennae from the factory - this would have been a dealer add. The placement of the antenna could have gone anywhere. This one is unusually placed on the rear scuttle between the boot and the passenger rear fender - a match to the movie car! In the photos you will see a dirty old license plate upside-down next to the heater core box. What we can see of the upside down/reverse number is clearly not the number on the current plates - this license plate may be another clue. The car looks like it has considerable rust problems, but if it IS the movie car, it would be cool to own. As a side note, I see the Dexter Lake Club business is also for sale - you could relive the movie with the car AND the club! |

I'm deciding to reply to user "THE DAVE," My dad claims it is also his car, that he bought it back in Eugene, Oregon where the movie was filmed, and eventually sold it to someone there too. The reason the car was painted was because the back left part of the car was damaged, and that's why, throughout the movie, you see very little of the left side of the car. The reason as to why my Dad's car is in Animal House... Is that he was John Belushi's coke dealer. Also at the time, my Dad worked on cars. He had 2 other MGA's as well as a few Porches. I would love if user "THE DAVE" could contact me. I recommend contacting me by replying to this thread, and then I will give further information. |
