RPX 885K last taxed in 1981 but survives, apparently one of 2 Stimsons used - the other was orange. |

Thanks for the links. Definitely only the one car, the "orange" one shown in that second blog is yellow on my copy of the video. A few frames earlier and you can just make out the registration. |

Someone has commented on the Mini Bug Blog that two yellow factory built consecutively registered Mini Bugs were ordered by Southern Television. If so, then the other one is presumably "RPX 884K", now red and taxed as recently as 2014. Vehicle make: MINIBUG Date of first registration: November 1971 Year of manufacture: 1971 Cylinder capacity (cc): 998 cc Vehicle colour: RED |

Strange Stimson fact I stumbled on by accident: they were also built under licence in The Netherlands as the Barclay Mini Bug - about 12 made. There were also Dutch-built versions of the Siva Minibug by a firm called Euromotor - 94 made until a factory fire destroyed the moulds. Stimson page with lots of Mini Bug and other things info. |

For a series that features a gang of three sometimes four you would think a strict two seater Stimson might not have been the best means of transport ! Of course health and safety not invented in 1970s but one of them is usualy sat on wing while driving at speed . -- Last edit: 2022-05-14 12:58:07 |
