To forestall the inevitable, AMC's were sold in Australia as Ramblers...![]() ![]() ![]() |

Not built in Australia. This generation of Ambassador was fully imported as they were made in RHD in the US. Only about 20 hardtops (as well as 4 sedans) were imported in 1970. -- Last edit: 2017-03-16 13:38:58 |

Were they still called "Ramblers" in Australila for 1970? The last use of the Rambler name here in the US was for model year 1969, and only on the "American" line. This car here was called "AMC Ambassador". -- Last edit: 2017-03-05 17:04:52 |

They were sold in UK as well in early 70s with proper RHD eg /vehicle_32636-AMC-Ambassador-1972.html (which has some uncertainty about brand and where made), so AMC were making efforts to sell in RHD markets around world. |

AMC's were sold as Ramblers well into the 70's - here's a Matador I photographed a few years back: https://www.flickr.com/photos/doctor_keats/266794586/ If you view it as "Original", you can see the AMI badge on the front fender, and the "Rambler" badge on the nose cone. License plate dates from 1974. -- Last edit: 2017-03-06 04:43:10 |
