So many British series with a Saab for the main character. In a way not original, as the intention is probably to be just that. /vehicle_409042-SAAB-99-1982.html |

It's a sort of cliche bingo - there's probably a TV Dramas for Dummies manual which says "Saabs = enigmatic lead character who does things his own way and doesn't mind breaking the rules. Use a Saab which is a few years old for best effect." My favourite car-defines-character linkage was this one. I'm still waiting for a lead character with a Kia Ceed estate (= quietly appreciative of subtly effective design, below the radar of most folk). |

In Sweden to have the same effect, classic Porsche: /vehicle_441111-Porsche-911-S-1977.html That Saab idea is mostly prevalent in Britain, not in Germany or most of Europe. With apostrophe (the most interesting thing about it) |

It goes much better without the apostrophe - I sold mine on ebay to a bloke who drives a B'MW. Other good car-defines-character moments with some original thinking demonstrated: this, this, and inevitably here. |

It does define character, if you look at footballer's cars for example. Pets also define character. |

SAAB GB were also always active with loaning new cars to production companies which explains most of the newer ones used in British series. |
