There's even less that is identifiable... When looking at a Mercedes it's not possible to see what engine is fitted. If thinking this is a 1968+ version, and apart from the wheel covers also the colour argue it is, and it's not a longer version, there are two models available that are looking virtually the same, namely the 280 S and 280 SE. The letters means S = Super (Eng: Greater) and SE = Super Einspritzung (ENG: Fuel injection). If following the ruels for this page, I rather think it should be noted as a 280 S.
