Location: Berlin; Charlottenburger Chaussee (today Straße des 17. Juni) & Hindenburgplatz (today Platz des 18. März) looking towards Brandenburg Gate. As visible here, the gate was once open for motorized traffic. When the Berlin Wall was built in 1961, of course no traffic could go through the gate. After the German reunification, traffic was allowed to go through the gate again, but after many discussions, it was closed permanently for cars in 2002. |
