I've got a book reference which says ZA Escort Mk3s were part assembled at Halewood (body), shipped to Dagenham to get oily bits and then sent incomplete to ZA for final assembly. No direct mention of XR3, but a ZA special was created by fitting XR3 engine into GL body with a tiny boot spoiler. XR3i was not offered due to poor quality local fuel. This brochure https://www.flickr.com/photos/ifhp97/5698802038/in/photostream/ suggests it might have been sold as just Ford XR3 without Escort in name, but comment below says everyone called it Escort XR3. This one has later wheels and no side stickers compared to the brochure picture which looks early, so could even be a Mk4 XR3 - which would be interesting because normal Mk4 was XR3i in Europe - although still seems to have Mk3 bumpers so that might be a leap too far. |

Those are rare wheel trims from a MK3 Link to "images.classiccars.co.uk" .It's never a MK4 -- Last edit: 2016-04-04 19:01:23 (dsl) |

New info - the white wheel covers without side tapes were late 84+ XR3i on ZA Mk3. |
