Very interesting. Looks UK style, but usual suspects for something finned (Alpine, Daimler SP250, Triumph TR4) don't match. Nor does something like Reliant Sabre. Doesn't look big enough for exotic Italian (Ferrari, Maserati) and they tended not to have sloping fronts. |

A TR4 with surrey top. At first i thought it would be the Italia but the roof doesn't fit. Link to "www.alhdbh.com" |

I started thinking TR4 with Surrey top, but while rear bumper has long wrapround it was not grooved as this one seems to be. Also the front in thumb looks sloping (as Daimler SP250 did, but SP250 had different side swirls, only a short bumper wrapround on later versions- early ones had no rear bumper, just massive over-riders - and I've never seen one with a Surrey-like top) instead of vertical front like TR4. Alpine - fins look OK for chopped back Mk4 format, but again never seen one with Surrey top, bumper wrapround was short, and the sloping front doesn't look a good match. Agree not an Italia - too many differences, and very surprising if one landed in Japan. So I'm still stumped ... Update - I still can't understand how the apparent sloping front belongs to a TR4, but the possible bonnet bulges and the apparent filler cap between the rear boot edge and the back window do smell very TR4-ish ...... -- Last edit: 2016-01-29 18:46:18 |

I really think it is a TR4 with a bumper specific for Japan or changed there after an accident and the space filled with just fitted there... -- Last edit: 2016-01-31 10:32:26 |
