The film was aired on Feb. 17th, 1974 - so MY 1975 seems not possible... |

You're right. It still has the older headrests (non-integrated). So it's 1973. |

Would not've been a very common car in Germany at the time, either?(At least not in Neu Ulm/Bavaria area 1972-75?) Saab's I don't recall seeing much until later on in the '70s when we were later stationed in Rheinland-Pfaltz? (And also, they were quite popular 'European Delivery' US Spec cars(as were the Volvos?)for US Military personel starting about that same time?) |

@Buc84: SAAB was never that popular in Germany. The 900 Turbos and Convertibles of the 80s and early 90s had their certain customer group of people who wanted to state their difference from the masses. But those never existed in bigger numbers... - The earlier models (96, 95) were even more uncommon. In general, you'll find more SAAB in urban environments and in the northern half of Germany. This document of a SAAB 99 as police car is a special thing, but the first in a row of several genereations of rare SAAB Q-cars. Moreover: SAAB always claimed that they are the smallest brand with a worldwide sales and service network (through their International and Diplomat Sales division). - That's the one with the European Delivery program. I met a couple in the Hunsrück 10 years ago. They took their brand new SAAB (a dolphin grey 2004 9-3 Vector) and visited his old Airbase surroundings there... |
