Anachronism. The scene takes place in 1962 |

just one year. We have many more terrible anachronisms here... |

Not so. Although made in Sweden from 1963 (as the 1800S), from 1961 till then they were assembled by Jensen in the UK. |

Agreed with the main point about 1961+ Jensen assembly allowing an 1800 into a 1962-set film; however not sure what visible here would allow separation into P1800 or 1800S - Maybe one of our Volvo-ists can comment?? Also to point out that 1800 bodies from start until about 1969 were all made in Scotland at Pressed Steel Fisher plant at Linwood which from 1963 was Rootes owned; assembly until 63 was by Jensen in West Bromwich and 63+ by Volvo in Sweden. So these could be regarded as Rootes-jewels, which will no doubt please cl82. |

It's a later 1800S, not a Jensen bodied P1800. Specifically it seems to be a '63 year model, as indicated by the red centred hubcaps, the absense of wheel arch protectors, and, as can be seen from the pic above, the absense of the Jensen-only Volvo insignia on the pillers behind the windows. Of course the Jensen built model would have instantly rusted at the sight of that snow, so it's an understandable, if incongruous, compromise. -- Last edit: 2016-01-05 02:10:59 |

My Mom owned a 1966 model. She said it set off all the car alarms as she drove past. |

And being with what looks like (faked) East German plates,I think that could be another 'goof'? A car like this would be very, very unusual in the DDR....more a low-line,4 dr sedan kind of place??? |

Can we have the old pictures reposted as thumbs?? Some of the comments above don't make sense for the new main pic. |

The bigger goof is, that this is Wolfgang Vogel's car (the DDR-lawyer) - he never drove Volvo, always Mercedes BEnz (with an Opel Kapitän as single exception). He was the most known Benz-owner of the DDR. For his -mainly goldmetallic- Benzes he even blackmailed the DDR-regime. He did things for them with the requirement to get a new Mercedes. |

The recreation of Checkpoint Charlie at the end of this scene is also disappointing. ![]() |

There are masses of more goofs about the Berlin Wall, but it's one of the less worse sceneries, compared with other movies about that topic. |
