 Pictures of Lily Tomlin's personal 1955 Dodge Royal Lancer. She purchased in 1975 for $1,500 from the president of a Chrysler car club. Her character drives an old car so she offered her Dodge for the part to save money on this low budget film.

 A very nice rare car...hard to find compared with Fords & Chevy's from that year. My dad owns a similar 1956 Dodge Custom Royal 4 door sedan with 315 Super Red Ram V-8 engine & 2 speed push button automatic transmission...in black.

 Despite the script reading Royal, everything else on this car down to the interior door panels identify it as a Custom Royal.
So I'm wondering if it went through a total renovation or if the scripts were taken from a Royal. Is there a VIN of this car somewhere?

A 1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer sport coupe, serial
number 34845775 , when new had a white top, cameo red "saddle" and black lower body. It was fitted with factory fender skirts. The 270 cubic inch Hemi Super Red Ram V-8 engine had the 193 hp "power- pack" option. During the twenty years Mr. Roche owned the Dodge it was painted all black before he sold it.
