Austin rear badge, 1948 Wakefield plate - possibly the only clue where this was filmed. Is the body likely to be similar to ambulance builds??

The body. particularly in the cab and cab roof areas, looks to be basically the Austin K30 30cwt Van, overall size and proportions both body and chassis are the same.

Only just found it today dsl!

However as you pointed out it has the Austin badge at the rear and I recognised the cab roof and doors, there is little chance I think that it was based on a saloon car chassis.

The only other Austin of this size from 1947 was the later three-way K8 and its not that.

I guess its possible it was a refurbished wartime vehicle because of sales restrictions on new vehicles for anything other than export. If it really was a police or prison van those restrictions may not have applied.
