The differences are the four fixed front lamps, the wider radiator grille and the shape of the hood. I don't see the four doors... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_XK150
AOLJU ◊ 2015-05-28 19:41	It is definetly not an XK120, as you say, but I have found this picture where, if you look closely, you can see the rear door's handle. I don't know... Mark VII? Mark VIII? Hard to tell. Welcome to the community, by the way!
8bitDave ◊ 2015-05-31 20:56	Hi again, and thanks for the welcome! You're right, it's a four doors. Obviously, with its roof removed leads to confusion, because Marks VII, VIII or even IX are roofed and seem to have higher profile than XKs, which fits better with all the other cars. So, trying to distinguish between Marks, what I've seen is Mark VII from 1950 to 54 had no blinkers on the front side, while 1955 and 56 Mark VII M model and VIII did. As you say, hard to tell. EzMark and aolju were right. The movie is a must see!

dsl ◊ 2015-10-12 01:31	Colour split and no chrome on wing side mean Mk.VII only if genuine. MkVII M and later had chrome in wing which was used as the colour split boundary.

CrazyaboutCats ◊ 2020-04-17 06:47	It is indeed an early Mk VII (Mark 7) Jaguar which has been heavily modified. The Mk VII-M (Modified) of late 1954 updated some features, even more in Mk VIII of 1958 and many more improvements in last incarnation as Mk IX from 1954 - 1961. Telltales: Small radiator grille (larger grille surround and bonnet chrome in Mk VIII & Mk IX), Front indicators absent from guards (indicators were semaphore style incorporated into the 'B' pillars - now absent) Foglights mounted in front guards(replaced by horn grilles in later models with foglights on front bumper 1954 onward), Fresh air vents in sides of front guards behind front wheels (welded closed) not featured after 1954, Single round pod style tail lights (removed but gasket staining and single hole verify 1950-1953 - 1954-1959 models had oval style similar to Morris Minor, Triumph & MGA in RED only followed by dual Amber/Red style from 1960 similar to Jaguar Mk2). Split windscreen absent although aperture is identical across the Model Year ranges of split and single piece screens. The car used for this film was originally located upside down in a river ravine where it had lain as an un-salvaged insurance write off for many decades before being dragged out and built by the creator of most of the Mad Max mechanical devices over the Series'.
